Head for the Hills

Welcome to ‘Head for the Hills’. If you enjoy walking but prefer a guide to a map then you have come to the right place! Through my website you can book me to act as your guide for walks in the beautiful Cheviot Hills of Northumberland in North East England. These hills lie mostly in the Northumberland National Park and offer walkers a sense of wilderness and solitude. Take a look at the slideshow of these hills on my website; perhaps you will be tempted to visit them too?

I have walked in these hills for 20 years. I am also a nationally accredited hillguide. On my walks I take every opportunity to enliven your walk with details about geology, social history and wildlife and flowers. Individuals as well as groups can book but the overall group size is a minimum of 2 and a maximum of 6. There are lower per-person prices for groups of 4 or more at the time of booking. There are 6 walks to choose from ranging from easy to challenging. If you are interested in prehistoric cup and ring marks then Walk 1 is definitely for you. I’ll take you to some of the best examples in Northumberland. Perhaps you prefer a challenging walk up to the Border Ridge to get stunning views into Scotland and to learn more about the time of the notorious Border Reivers? There are typically two walks a week running between mid-April to mid-October.

All walks come with stunning views! Go to my website for galleries for each walk as well as an indication of what the walk entails. You can join a walk by meeting me its starting point, or if you prefer, at a pre-arranged location so that you can then follow me to the right place. For example, meet me at the free car park in Wooler or the car park in Rothbury prior to going into the valleys to find the walk starting point.
