Cycling

Our rugged landscape and challenging terrain means Northumberland is a cylist’s paradise.

Our county has a growing reputation in mountain biking circles, particularly the famous Deadwater Trails at Kielder Water & Forest Park.

The trails make for a bare knuckle ride and you’ll get to experience some of the best views in Britain as you head down the 1,900 ft summit of Deadwater Fell.

This is not a trail for the amateur, it is full of technical climbs and rock drop-offs.

Kielder Water & Forest Park also boasts the Castlewood Skills Loop with its blue and red grade circuits to hone your skills on before deciding which of the other trails is for you. Choose from the all new blue trail or Lonesome Pine and Bloody Bush red trails, or just chill out on the Lakeside Way(green) with its famous outdoor artworks and great scenery.

If you want to get away from set trails and head into open country, try the famous Coast and Castles or Hadrian’s Wall cycle routes that offer rugged terrain and fantastic views.

Let the professional guides of Northumberland help you get the most from Britains best kept secret.
